PPS is shutdown by Windows operating system
when read or write operation is performed.
The PPS is making use of timer for read and write operation. The default
timer used is high resolution timer, which may not be supported by
certain systems. In this case, user may select the multimedia timer from
the Setup Port under the Settings menu. With multimedia timer, the read
and write operation will be slower.

1.2
PPS displays "Device not responding" when read or write operation of
performed.

The
possible causes of this problem are as follows:
Wrong parallel port configuration
From the PPS, click Settings -> Setup Port and then
configure the parallel port accordingly.
Cables are not connected
Check to see that all
cables are connected properly.
Incorrect programmer box version
Ensure
that you are using the parallel version of the programmer box and not
the serial version.
No power supplied to programmer box
Check to see that the
programmer box is connected to the power adapter, and that the power adapter is plugged into a working power socket.
Device not responding
Remove pager from the
cradle. Insert a size AA battery BACKWARDS into the pager and wait for 2 seconds. The pager has
now been reset. Remove the battery and reconnect the pager to the programmer.

1.3 PPS displays "Read checksum error" when read operation is performed.

The
possible causes of this problem are as follows:
Intermittent open connection between 4-pin programmer
probe and pager
Change the programmer
probe and try again.
Other software applications are affecting the
communication timing between the PPS and pager
Close all applications
and try again.
Eeprom data in the pager is corrupted
Erase the eeprom content
in service mode, configure all the intended programmer settings and
write it back to pager. Read from pager again to make sure problem is
gone.

1.4 PPS displays "Write checksum error" when write operation is
performed.

The
possible causes of this problem are as follows:
Intermittent open connection between 4-pin programmer
probe and pager
Change the
programmer probe, erase the pager in service mode and try again.
Other software applications are
affecting the communicating timing between the programmer software and
pager
Close all applications and try again.

1.5 Failed to read/write in service mode in Windows XP Professional and
Windows 2000.
The possible
causes of this problem are as follows:
You are logged in as Normal User where you do not have
write access to Program Files Folder
Uninstall the PPS and re-install it to folder other than Program File
Folder and Windows Folder.

1.6 Not able to save the PPS settings in Windows XP Professional and
Windows 2000. (e.g.: After you choose from using parallel port to using
COM port, closing the PPS and re-launch the PPS, parallel port will
still be chosen.)
The
possible causes of this problem are as follows:
You are logged in as Normal User where you do not have
write access to Program Files Folder.
Uninstall the PPS and
re-install it to folder other than Program File Folder and Windows
Folder.

2.0 PPS FAQ (Parallel Programming Box)
2.1
What are the settings of the parallel port for the PPS?
The PPS is using the parallel port to communicate with the pager. The
required settings of the parallel port are as follows:
IO Address: 0378
Printer Mode: EPP/ECP or Bi-Directional
You may follow the procedure below to view the parallel port settings:
• Select Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager->Ports (COM &
LPT) ->ECP Printer Port (LPT1)->Properties->Resources->I/O
Range->Settings (0378…)
If
the IO address is not correct, you may follow the procedure below to
change to the correct setting:
- From the PPS,
select Settings->Setup Port->Address (enter the correct IO address as
specified by the system)
If the printer mode
is not correct, you may follow the procedure below to change to the
correct setting:
- Restart your
machine.
- Press F10 to enter
the Setup during system booting.
- Select
Advanced->Device Options->Printer Mode (use the right arrow key to
select either EPP/ECP or Bi-Directional).
- Save the changes
and exit.

2.2 PPS displays "Could not initialize parallel port" when it is
launched.

The possible causes of this problem are
as follows:
Incorrect parallel port address
Ensure that the parallel port address is
correct. From the PPS, click Settings -> Setup Port and change the
address according to your PC specifications. The default value is 0378.
Software installation without
administrator right in Windows 2000 or XP Professional
Uninstall software, log in Windows as administrator and install
software again.
Programmer driver for Win2000 or
XP is not installed
Click
here to download drive and follow the instructions to
install the driver.
Conflict with other external
peripherals attached to the PC
Disconnect the external
peripherals, restart the machine and try again.

2.3 PPS displays "Device not responding" when read or write operation of

The COM port is selected in the PPS
but the programming is done via the parallel programming box

3.1 PPS displays
"Failed to open COM!!" when it is launched.

The possible causes of this problem are as follows:
The programmer box is not connected
Connect the USB cable.
Go to Settings -> Setup Port. Press OK and it will automatic detect the COM port.
For Windows 2000, the driver may be not properly loaded
Restart the PC.

3.2 PPS displays "Could not find COM port that is connected to
programmer Box" when "Use COM Port" is clicked.

The possible causes of this problem are as follows:
The programmer box is not connected
Connect the USB cable.
Go to Settings -> Setup Port. Press OK and it will automatic detect the COM port.
For Windows 2000, the driver may be not properly loaded
Restart the PC.

3.3 PPS Displays "Device not responding" when read or write operation is
performed.

The possible causes of this problem are as follows:
The parallel port is selected in the PPS but the
programming is done via the USB programming box
Select COM port under the Setup Port menu.
The USB
cable was connected but has been unplugged previously while the
PPS is still open
Close the PPS. Re-connect the USB Cable
and re-launch the PPS.
For Windows 2000, the driver may be not properly
loaded
Restart the PC.

3.4 PPS displays error code 0x01, 0x02, 0x03, 0x04, 0x05 when read or
write operation is performed.
The possible causes of this problem are as follows:
The programmer box has gone into a wrong state
Close

For windows 2000, the driver may be not properly loaded
Restart the PC.

Re-connect the USB cable and re-launch the PPS.

Restart
